Most people are aware of the push to include corporations in public
schools. From having Taco Bells in food courts to team sponsorship,
corporations want to get their hands into the molding of the next
generation. The reason is simple, to establish loyalty and control the
messages received by the next generation of money-makers and decision
makers.
Would you be shocked to learn that this corporate public
school take over is being spearheaded by Wal Mart? The same megalithic
company that opens stores in areas just to close down small industry,
then shuts their doors and leaves blighted property all over the country
is ready to take over education. They are seeking to create a charter
middle-school in an upscale area is Little Rock Arkansas.
If their
application for a charter school is approved by the Board of Education
it will be the ran by private managment and open to the public. However,
the location of the proposed school will help ensure a certain type of
demographic attends the Wal Mart school. On the Board of Education, and
partially in charge of the approval process, is Diane Zook, who is a
financial supporter and part of the group pushing this Wal Mart funded
charter.
Are you ready for a new world of corporately owned public
schools? Can you even imagine what this might mean to the future of the
already weak public school system?
