Back to Basics- Communication 2

Consider Getting A Ham License
Ham radio operators send and receive broadcasts on a certain range of radio frequencies. These broadcasts can be heard over a long range, depending upon the equipment on the receiving end of the transmission. Understanding how to communicate independently, over long distances, is a very valuable skill. If we were to have a serious emergency, being able to send and receive transmissions could prove life saving.
All countries do require you to get a license to be an operator. This isn't as hard as you might think, and will provide enough understanding of the science of radio waves, frequencies and transmission protocols. Most people start by joining a local Ham radio club. These clubs mentor others and help them study and pass the licensing exam. You do not have to join a club and you can study independently if you like.
In the past you had to know Morse Code to get a license, but this isn't the case any longer. You can get the first level and most popular license without knowing Morse Code. If you want to, however, you can learn the code and take the exam for the second tier of licensing. You only need 5 words a minute to get Morse Code certification.
