This is both basic and important. If things were to get really bad, as bad as you could imagine from any end of the world scenario, having a safety net of like minded individuals might be the only way to survive. Let's face it, even in a typical natural disaster, having a network of reliable people to help is handy as well. So, there are many reasons to work on building a network.
Here are some tips to find others and create a network in your area:
1- Hold a viewing party and show a documentary that mirrors your views. Put up fliers, post notices at any community bulletin board you can find, and see if your local paper has free or inexpensive notices. Serve some chips and dip, provide an email list sign up, and see who shows up.
2- Join email groups, groups on google, yahoo or any other sources you can find, that are in line with your thoughts. Once you've joined, become active. Talk with others, locate people in or around your town and state, keep in touch and help everybody stay informed.
3-Consider starting a Neighbor Hood Watch, Block or Apartment Watch or Crime Watch. This can start as simply as putting up fliers and talking to neighbors. It will help you know who is around you, what their interests are, and how engaged they are in safety of your community.
Next post will cover more ideas to create a network.
